"Wushu is really fun and I enjoy it a lot," Henry, a 9-year-old student at a local martial arts school.
He became even more excited when a professional team from China was teaching traditional Chinese sports at the school for two days. It's the first time for the five coaches came to the United States to teach traditional Chinese sports. Americans were familiar with the dragon and lion dance, as well as Chinese folk dances. But it was the first time that Taiji softball was introduced to the local community. Taiji softball is a new sport which needs tennis skills and needs to know something about Taiji Quan. "It is very special and different," Henry said. When I left school at eighteen, I got a job at a zoo as a student keeper. Now, five years later, things have changed — I have passed my exams and I am an animal keeper.
The money is not good. I only get ￥9,000 a year. You have to be outside in rain and snow, which is hard work, and you get very dirty. But this doesn’t matter to me because animals are the most important thing in my life!
