When you want to travel for the first time, you’re a bit afraid to travel on your own and naturally prefer to travel with other people. So you ask your friends to join you. As you show them the photos you discovered online, you are sure you will get a travel partner or two.
But interestingly enough, the first friend you ask, perhaps your closest friend, turns you down. And you move on to the next friend, but he too tells you he doesn’t want to join you at all.
Maybe you decide to postpone your trip, hoping that one of your friends will change his mind. Maybe you decide to forget about your trip, fully convinced (确信) that the only way you would ever be able to have the confidence to travel is with a friend or travel partner by your side.
If that is the case, then I’m quite happy that you are reading this article. Here’s my advice to you. You may be on your own when you board your flight, but once you arrive, you’ll never actually be alone.
That’s how travel works, so don’t be afraid to travel on your own. You’re going to meet people when you travel. In fact, meeting new people is probably one of the easiest things to do when travelling because you quickly have connection with every other traveller. All travellers are strangers in a foreign land and as a result, we often would love to have the chance to travel with a new friend.
Maybe you’ll meet someone at a cafe, in shop, on a bus, or just in the street. Maybe you’ll end up wandering around a city for an afternoon with this person and then saying goodbye. And the next day, you’ll probably meet someone else to share new experiences with as well. Perhaps you’ll meet someone and decide to travel together for a couple of days or weeks.
The point is, you’ll meet plenty of people in just about every single corner of the world, even if you’re the shyest person on the planet. And before long, you’ll understand why I always give the same answer every time I’m asked what it’s like to always be traveling alone. I just say, “I maybe travel alone but I’m never really on my own.”
29.What can we learn from the passage
A.You prefer someone to go with you when you travel for the first time.
B.Your closest friend is always willing to go for a trip with you.
C.The photos online will surely make your friends interested in travelling.

Everybody likes to feel that she or he is special. Sadly, many of us grow up believing that we’re not special at all. We wish that we could be more attractive (吸引力的) or better at sports. We wish we had more money or nicer clothes. Like the Tin Man, the Scarecrow (稻草人), or the Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz (绿野仙踪), we think we’re not good enough just as we are. In the film, the Tin Man wishes he had a heart. The Scarecrow wishes that he had a brain, and the Lion wants courage. Finally, each of them realizes that he already has what he wants.
Nearly all the parents want us to be the best we can be. They sometimes try to encourage us to do better by comparing us to others. They mean well, but the message we usually get is that we’re not good enough. We start to believe that the only way we can be special is by being better than somebody else, but we are often disappointed (失望的). There will always be somebody out there who is better at something than we are. There are a lot of people around who may not be as smart as we are but who are better at sports. Or they may not be as handsome as us, but they are more successful. It is unthinkable for us to be better than everybody else all the time. Like the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion, we all need what we believe will make us better.
Sometimes we just don’t realize that we already have the very things inside us that we look for. Our parents often forget to tell us that we are special, that we are good enough just as we are. Perhaps no one told them when they were growing up, or maybe they just forgot. Either way, it’s up to us to remind them that each of us, in our own way, is special. What we are ... is enough!
37.What is the writer’s main purpose to write the text
A.To describe how smart we are. B.To explain the importance of being yourself.
C.To talk about your family problems. D.To suggest how people can change their way of life.
38.This article was most probably written by ________.
A.a teenager B.a youth worker C.a teacher D.a parent
39.What does the writer say about our parents
A.They never compare us to other children. B.They always tell us that we are good enough.
C.They often forget to tell us that we are special. D.They never forget to tell us that we are special.
40.Which would be the best title for this passage
A.What Makes You Smart B.What Makes You Happy
C.What Makes You Strong D.What Makes You Special

To his surprise, Scrooge saw Marley’s face instead of the knocker(门环)when Scrooge put his key in the lock. Scrooge looked at the door knocker for several moments, and then it changed back to being a door knocker again.
Scrooge was quite scared. He quickly closed the door and then he went up to his room. It was very dark because Scrooge only had a candle. But darkness didn’t worry Scrooge, because darkness is cheap. And Scrooge liked cheap things.
Suddenly he heard a loud clanking sound. It came from downstairs. Somebody was pulling a heavy chain over the barrels in the wine merchant’s cellar. It was coming straight towards his room.
The face was the same. It was Marley, he was dragging a chain. Scrooge stared at the ghost of Marley as it stood there before him. But still he didn’t believe it was really there.
