If a child is playing sport, they should have fun. However, I believe learning that sometimes you lose is just as important.
There is a school of thought that if children are playing for fun, they should not keep score, which seems a bit backwards to me. Participation is great, but let’s also give them a goal to reach.
Sport has winners and losers, which is an important part of its make-up. I believe the greatest joy you can get from sport is when you play hard and produce a win, when you and your teammates work together for your goal.
I am a competitive person, but I don’t think you’re ever too young to start learning that putting effort into something can result in reward. I’m not saying winning should be the be-all and end-all of the experience for children, but it should at least be a choice.
Michael Jordan once said. “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
Without learning how it feels to win, and just as importantly how it feels to lose, we will bring up children who expect life to be easy. Life is not easy and I believe the sooner children learn that, the better off they are in the long run. But, there does need to be a balance. There are parents who always want to see their children win and will punish them when they make mistakes.
I believe the key is to teach children that they should give their all in an effort to be victorious. It does need to be fun or they won’t be interested, but they should be graceful (优雅的) in failure. Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios is an example of someone who appears to have gone too far the other way, always in the news for his terrible attitude on court.
4. Which of the following will the author agree with
A. Fewer kids play sport nowadays. B. It is participation that matters most.
C. Competitive sport is important for kids. D. Kids often have unrealistic goals in sport.
5. What does the author want to show by using Jordan’s words
A. Life lies in sport. B. Nothing is impossible.
C. Great hopes make great men. D. Failure is the mother of success.
6. What will winning and losing in sport teach children
A. The difficulty of life. B. The role of hard work.
C. The power of teamwork. D. The need for dreaming big.
7. What does the author think of Nick Kyrgios
A. He is not skilled. B. He is not graceful.
C. He sets a good example for kids. D. He pays little attention to success.
C 5. D 6. A 7. B

By now, most people know they should be eating more vegetables. But are there ways to get more from the vegetables you already eat A research shows that when it comes to vegetables, it’s not only how much we eat, but also how we eat them. It is important because it decides the vitamins (维他命) and other nutrients (营养物质) that enter our body.
Many studies show that people who eat lots of vegetables have less heart disease, and eye problems and even cancer. But raw (生的) vegetables are not always best. The researchers found that 198 Germans who eat raw food were short of lycopene (番茄红素), the matter found in tomatoes and other red vegetables. “There is an idea that raw foods are always going to be better,” says Steven K. Clinton, a professor at Ohio State University. “For fruits and vegetables, sometimes a little bit of cooking can be helpful.”
A number of factors (因素) decide how the vegetables do good to people’s health before they reach the table, including where and how they were grown and stored before being bought. No single cooking way is best. Some nutrients are easily lost in cooking if they are cooked in different ways.
What cooked with the vegetables can also be important! When the vegetables were cooked with fat, the diners can get more nutrients. Fat can also make the taste of vegetables better, meaning that people will eat more of them.
8. The writer mainly wants to tell us that________.
A people should eat more vegetables B. the way people eat vegetables is important
C. eating vegetables is good for us D. how much vegetables one should eat
9. The people who eat the raw vegetables for a long time will________.
A. have the eyes problems B. have heart disease
C. need lycopene (番茄红素) D. hate eating tomatoes
10. The following decide how the vegetables do good to people EXCEPT________.
A. the place where the vegetables are grown
B. the way how the vegetables are stored
C. the way how the vegetables are prepared
D. the price at which the vegetable are sold
11. From the last paragraph, we can know________.
A. it’s better to cook vegetables with the fat
B. the more fat in the cooking, the fewer vegetables people will eat
C. it’s better to cook the vegetables without salt
D. the fat will increase the nutrition of the vegetables
B 9. C 10. D 11. A

根据第三段中“A number of factors (因素) decide how the vegetables do good to people’s health before they reach the table, including where and how they were grown and stored before being bought. A Georgia mom is winning praise for the way she’s teaching her children, aged 13,10 and 6, about money.
Shaketha MeGregor, a single mother in Dublin, Georgia, knew she needed a solution after frequent requests from her three kids for things like new toys and money to do things with their friends.
She came up with the unique idea to host a “job fair(就业展览会)”for her three children, Jahkeem, in seventh grade, Takeia, in fifth grade, and Serinity, in first grade. The three positions at the job fair were the kitchen manager, lead housekeeper and laundry supervisor(洗衣房主管).Children had to earn their pocket money by doing a job.
Jahkeem, Takeia and Serinity each picked the job they wanted to apply for, filled out the application and had interviews with their employer-their mom.
“My oldest and my youngest both applied for the lead housekeeper” McGregor said.“ As to my 6-year-old daughter Serinity, I was more impressed with her application and her interview than my 13-year-old son Jahkeem.”
”I want them to be familiar with the process when they are older,“ she said. ”Whether they’re applying to a school or for a new job. they can look back and say, “I did this with Mom years ago.” As a parent you want to protect your children as much as possible, but you know that eventually they’ll have to experience it on their own and a child’s greatest lesson in life is going through the process.
MeGregor’s post on Facebook where she shared her job fair idea now has more than 200,000 likes. She said she hoped it inspired other parents to think outside of the box and let their kids’ voices be heard.“ What I’m realizing is that kids just want to be part of something. The first-hand experience is the best way to educate children,” McGregor said.
12. What do you know about McGregor’s solution
A. It is creative. B. It’s uninteresting
C. It is strange. D. It’s traditional.
13 How can Takeia get the new toy she wants according to the passage
A. By doing housework. B. By behaving well.
C. By getting good marks. D. By listening to McGregor.
14. What can we infer from the result of the job fair
A. Serinity was awarded a new toy.
B. Serinity got the position as a kitchen manager.
C. Takeia became the lead housekeeper at the fair.
D. Jahkeen didn’t get the job he had applied for.
15. What do we know from the last paragraph
A. Children should always listen to their parents views.
B. Parents should pay their children for anything.
C. MeGregor’s post is well received online.
D. MeGregor’s idea is suitable for all families.
A 13. A 14. D 15. C

根据前文“Each year many people move to the Sun Belt in the southern United States.”(每年都有很多人搬到美国南部的阳光地带。) A.“They choose to seek a warm and sunny climate.”(他们选择温暖阳光充足的气候。)
2.根据前文“Most of the time people use the word snowbird in reference to retirees that travel to a southern state during the winter months. However, snowbirding is certainly not limited to retirees.”(大多数时候,人们用“候鸟老人”这个词来形容那些在冬季去南方旅行的退休人员。 E.“People of all ages have more freedom to spend months away now.”(现在各个年龄段的人都有更多的自由,可以在外面度过几个月。)
3.根据下文“Some people like to travel in their RV(recreational vehicle), others have a second home in a location of their choosing. ”(有些人喜欢开着他们的房车(露营车)旅行,有些人在他们选择的地点拥有第二个家。)讲述了人们进行“snowbird”行为的方式,所以作为本段的中心句,空白处应总说人们为实现他们的目标的方式是什么。选项F.“There are many ways people choose to accomplish their snowbirding.”(人们有很多方法来完成他们到温暖地带过冬。)
4.根据前文“The second home provides ...They can also explore a wide variety of places.”(第二个家提供了房子所能提供的一切,但它不允许自由探索。 G.“Whatever advantages or disadvantages, people will take whichever way they like.”(无论优缺点如何,人们都会选择自己喜欢的方式。)
5.根据前文“For those people that have the ability to leave their homes for a few months during the winter to explore the southern areas, there are many benefits to have.”(对于那些能够在冬天离开家几个月,去南方探险的人来说,有很多好处。) D.“They can build new friendships and communities over the years.”(多年来,他们可以建立新的友谊和社区。)

故将with改为about。
根据前文“It’s my great honor to talk with the benefits of Taichi”可知,“我”说的是太极一个活动,所以应用单数形式。
此处考查的是固定搭配,make sb. do sth.
故has后应加a。
根据本句中“and I am more energetic during the day”可知,and表并列,前后需一致,后文用了比较级,所以前文也需比较级。
故将us改为me。

C
A. people should eat more vegetables B. the way people eat vegetables is important
C. eating vegetables is good for us D. how much vegetables one should eat
9. The people who eat the raw vegetables for a long time will________.
A. have the eyes problems B. have heart disease
C. need lycopene (番茄红素) D. hate eating tomatoes

A. the place where the vegetables are grown
B. the way how the vegetables are stored
C. the way how the vegetables are prepared
D. the price at which the vegetable are sold
11. From the last paragraph, we can know________.
A. it’s better to cook vegetables with the fat
B. the more fat in the cooking, the fewer vegetables people will eat
C. it’s better to cook the vegetables without salt
D. the fat will increase the nutrition of the vegetables

“My oldest and my youngest both applied for the lead housekeeper,” McGregor said.“ As to my 6-year-old daughter Serinity, I was more impressed with her application and her interview than my 13-year-old son Jahkeem.”
13. How can Takeia get the new toy she wants according to the passage
A. By doing housework. B. By behaving well.
C By getting good marks.

Hello, everyone! It’s my great honor to talk with the benefits of Taichi, my favorite physical activities.
To begin with, Taichi helped stretch our muscles, improves our body’s range of movements and makes us to have a lower risk of diseases. What’s more, Taichi can help us get over negative feelings whatever we feel sad.
But as for me, a year of practising Taichi has positive effect on my everyday life. I sleep well at night and I am more energetic during the day. That’s all, thank you!
